Care is a ritual, not a chore.
A few minutes a week is all your piece asks for. Start with the essentials, then find your plant below.
Care changes everything.
01The watering dunk
Submerge the moss ball in room-temperature water for ten to fifteen minutes. Let it drink slowly, then drain completely before returning it home.
02Finding light
Choose bright, indirect light. A gentle east-facing window keeps foliage vivid without drying the moss or scorching tender leaves.
03Pruning and growth
Remove tired leaves with clean scissors and turn your piece weekly. Small, regular attention encourages balanced, expressive growth.
Kokedama
- Water
- Soak the moss ball in room-temperature water for 10–15 minutes when it feels light. Usually every 7–10 days.
- Light
- Bright, indirect light. Avoid hot afternoon sun through glass.
- Humidity
- Mist the moss between soaks in dry, heated rooms.
- Signs
- Crispy moss means thirsty. A sour smell means it’s staying wet too long — let it dry out longer.
Mounted plants
- Water
- Mist several times a week and soak the moss pad, board and all, every 1–2 weeks.
- Light
- Bright, indirect light. Hang near — not directly in — a window.
- Feeding
- A diluted orchid fertiliser once a month in spring and summer.
- Hanging
- Hang on a sturdy hook and keep the moss off painted walls while it dries.
Air plants
- Water
- Dunk for 20 minutes once a week, then dry upside down for a few hours.
- Light
- Bright, indirect light. They love bathrooms with a window.
- Airflow
- Good airflow helps them dry and prevents rot at the base.
- Signs
- Curling or rolled leaves mean they’re thirsty.
